each rung represents a loss.
Fewer friends.
Less time for oneself.
No children.
Divorce.
Few accomplish the climb to the top.
Most settling on a step along the way.
Disillusioned and confused.
No one is warned of the pitfalls.
The gains are few by comparison.
Power, Compromise, Money, Loneliness
